The ‘Read like the Devil’ school
Under the signature Read Like the Devil we offer foundation level and advanced courses in practices of divination, divination techniques, divination philosophy and its cultural history.
We apply martial arts principles to reading techniques, inspired by fencing, Japanese swordsmanship, and calligraphy.
The idea is to see what there’s to see, which is quite a tall order in this day and age of everyone being an expert…
Of notable example are the following courses, now available to the wider public beyond enrolment. The first two here are foundational courses and, and the third is topical:
SCENTS
We use knowledge to remedy our human condition. But we can’t remedy the odors that enter our noses. Scent is such as we experience it, unadulterated. I’m interested in that.
In addition to weaving words, I blend perfumes. Old Testament style. The Song of Songs style. Nothing more, nothing less.
But while I fling my books indiscriminately to the public, I reserve my alchemy for the noses who already know what the world of desire is really about.
Under the signature BLACK TULIP I create limited edition fragrances that come in the form of oil blends, botanical salves, solid perfumes, and alcohol double extract perfumes. If the latter, then top luxury.
VESSELS & SCROLLS
I make porcelain and ceramics vessels as part of my art project, The Danish Testament, about what we get to inherit both accidentally and intentionally. For over 35 years I’ve been collecting fine, Danish linen and damask table cloths. My idea of repairing some of them is to transform them into calligraphic scrolls that I then accompany with my own hand made porcelain that I make from scratch, mostly on the wheel, in my little studio in Agger, Denmark.
As I’ve also inherited a Leica camera from 1963, I sometimes shoot black and white pictures of my installations and other subjects that I then develop in my darkroom.
Working with both clay and analog photography is a rewarding act, as I get to think about the relation between the objects on our table, the eye that sees in the dark, and how alchemy informs them both.
